Billionaire GOP Donor Peter Thiel Blames Christianity for ‘Wokeness’: ‘It Always Takes the Side of the Victim’

As I sit here contemplating the words of billionaire GOP donor Peter Thiel, blaming Christianity for what he calls ‘wokeness’, I can’t help but feel a sense of disbelief and frustration. How can someone twist the teachings of Jesus Christ, who preached love, compassion, and empathy for the marginalized and oppressed, into a negative thing? Thiel’s remarks only serve to highlight the disconnect between the teachings of Christianity and the actions of some who claim to follow it.

Chaya Raichik, a name that has now become synonymous with stumbling over the definition of “wokeness”, left sputtering and embarrassed as the audience burst into laughter when asked to clarify what exactly the term means. It’s amusing to watch these right-wing figureheads grasping at straws when it comes to defining a word that they use so freely in their rhetoric. The irony is palpable, as Raichik, a spokesperson for the hate-filled ideology of the far-right, fumbles over a simple question that she should be well-prepared to answer.
