Illinois Man Sentenced to 53 Years for Hate Crime Murder of 6-Year-Old
A 73-year-old Illinois man, Joseph Czuba, was sentenced to 53 years in prison for the horrific hate crime murder of six-year-old Wadee Alfayoumi. The October 2023 attack, which took place in the family’s Plainfield home, involved the brutal stabbing of both Wadee and his mother, Hanan Shaheen. Wadee, a Palestinian-American boy, suffered 26 stab wounds. His mother, who was also repeatedly stabbed, managed to call 911 from the bathroom, her desperate pleas for help echoing the unimaginable horror unfolding before her.
