As an Oregonian who believes strongly in the importance of democracy, I cannot express how thrilled I am with the recent decision by the Oregon high court. The court ruled that the 10 GOP state senators who staged a long walkout cannot run for re-election due to their deliberate absence from the state legislature. This ruling upholds the voter-approved Measure 113, which was passed in 2022 to prevent such boycotts by amending the state constitution.
