Detroit’s Homicide Rate Plunges to 1969 Low

Detroit experienced a significant decrease in homicides (19%) and nonfatal shootings (25%) in 2024, reaching their lowest rates in over 50 years. This reduction, attributed to increased police hiring and expanded community violence intervention programs, resulted in 203 homicides and 606 nonfatal shootings. While overall violent crime also fell 7%, officials acknowledged the need for continued efforts to address persistent crime issues, including juvenile violence and freeway shootings. The city plans to further invest in prevention programs and enhance law enforcement strategies.

Reading the tragic story about Katherine Altagracia Guerrero De Aguasvivas, who went missing after being carjacked at gunpoint and later found dead in a burned car, sends chills down my spine. This was not a random incident, as authorities stated that the suspects knew exactly who they were following. It’s unsettling to think about the sinister intentions behind this orchestrated attack. The advice shared by individuals about what to do if you feel you are being followed is invaluable.… Continue reading

Colorado suspects in rock-throwing death plead not guilty, trials to begin this summer

I cannot fathom the level of senseless violence that led to the death of an innocent woman at the hands of these three individuals. The fact that they have all pleaded not guilty is a slap in the face to the victim’s family and friends, as well as to society as a whole. It is evident that this was no accident but a calculated and premeditated act of violence, set into motion by individuals who clearly lacked any sense of empathy or conscience.

The fact that all three suspects were 18 years old at the time of the incident eliminates any possibility of them being treated as minors.… Continue reading
