60 Veterans Arrested at Anti-Fascism Protest

Approximately 60 protesters, primarily veterans and military families affiliated with Veterans for Peace, were arrested near the U.S. Capitol for unlawful demonstration and crossing police lines during a protest against President Trump’s Army anniversary parade. The demonstration, which occurred on the eve of the parade, opposed the deployment of National Guard troops and called for reallocation of funds towards social programs. Arrests resulted from protesters breaching a police perimeter while running towards the Capitol building. Some protesters also face additional charges of assaulting officers and resisting arrest.
