The situation unfolding in Haiti is truly a troubling and disheartening one. The recent overnight airlift conducted by the U.S. military to evacuate some staff from the embassy in Haiti is a clear indicator of the escalating crisis in the country. When such evacuations occur, it is undoubtedly a foreboding sign of further turmoil and chaos to come. The fact that the borders between Haiti and the Dominican Republic remain closed, along with the rampant gang violence, prison breaks, and overall lawlessness, paints a grim picture of the state of affairs in Haiti.
