As a 63-year-old American, I can’t help but shake my head at the latest news coming out of Tennessee. It seems that Tennessee Republicans are fighting a ban on cousins getting married. Yes, you read that correctly. In a time when issues such as gun control, healthcare, and climate change are at the forefront, the GOP in Tennessee is choosing to push for the legalization of marriage between cousins.

The Republican governor’s decision to nullify Memphis’ ordinances, including one that outlawed pretextual traffic stops like those for minor violations, raises serious questions about accountability and power dynamics within our justice system.
