A former McNairy County Sheriff’s deputy, Connor Brackin, has been arrested and charged with animal cruelty after allegedly shooting and killing seven dogs while responding to an animal welfare concern call. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) initiated an investigation after reports surfaced that Brackin had shot the dogs on the property, despite initially releasing one of them to the individual who made the welfare call. The TBI issued a warrant for Brackin’s arrest, and he subsequently turned himself in and was released on bond. Brackin, who was employed by the sheriff’s office for less than a month, faces seven counts of aggravated cruelty to animals and eight counts of reckless endangerment.

Nicholas Wayne Hamlett, 45, was arrested in South Carolina for the murder of Steven Douglas Lloyd, 34, in Tennessee. Hamlett allegedly staged the killing as a fatal bear attack in an attempt to steal Lloyd’s identity. Hamlett had befriended Lloyd, who had a mental health disorder and was known to live on the streets, and lured him to a wooded area where he killed him. Authorities identified Hamlett through his fingerprints and determined he had been using Lloyd’s identification to evade capture on a parole violation.

It feels like just yesterday when TLC used to have educational content rather than sensationalizing people’s lives for entertainment. The fact that this individual has a history of shady behavior, including faking her sister’s death and running a Go Fund Me scam, speaks volumes about her character.

Tennessee will become the first state to provide families with baby diapers, and let me tell you, it’s a surprising and somewhat unexpected move coming from a state known for its conservative values. The announcement that the state’s Medicaid program will start covering 100 diapers a month for newborns, infants, and 1-year-olds is definitely a step in the right direction, but it also raises some interesting questions and observations.

As I read this shocking news, my heart sank at the thought of a young person just trying to do their job being met with such violence. The fact that the shooter fired seven times at the truck without even attempting to identify a target shows a complete disregard for human life.
