As I sat glued to the live oral arguments of the Supreme Court, I couldn’t help but feel a wave of nausea wash over me. The way these politicians manipulated the law, twisting and contorting it to suit their own agendas, was truly sickening. Whatever happened to the ideal of leaving things up to the states? As a Texan, I am deeply frustrated and disappointed by the recent actions of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton. His decision to sue five cities, including Austin and San Marcos, over their marijuana policies is a clear abuse of power and a blatant disregard for the principles of smaller government and personal freedom that the Republican Party claims to stand for.
