Nicholas Wayne Hamlett, 45, was arrested in South Carolina for the murder of Steven Douglas Lloyd, 34, in Tennessee. Hamlett allegedly staged the killing as a fatal bear attack in an attempt to steal Lloyd’s identity. The Yemassee Police Department is working with Alpha Genesis, the facility that breeds and provides monkeys for research, to recapture the primates. South Carolina executed Richard Moore, a black man convicted of murder, after the Supreme Court denied his appeal claiming prosecutors unjustly excluded black people from his trial’s jury. Moore, 59, killed James Mahoney, a convenience store clerk, in a 1999 robbery. His attorneys argued that he had killed Mahoney in self-defence.
