Rosen Wins Nevada Senate Race, Flipping Key Seat Blue
Senator Jacky Rosen, a Democrat, has been projected to win the Nevada Senate race against Republican challenger Sam Brown. Rosen was leading Brown by a margin of 47.8 to 46.5 percentage points with 97% of precincts reporting. The race was considered competitive, as Republicans had flipped the governor’s mansion in the last election, but Democrats ultimately held onto the seat. While Republicans focused on border security and economic issues, Democrats emphasized abortion, a significant issue in Nevada after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade. The election also saw the passage of a measure enshrining abortion rights in the state constitution.
