This heartwarming yet disturbing story sheds light on a much larger issue that should outrage us all. The fact that children are forced into debt over something as basic as school meals is a sad state of affairs.
Children in elementary school should not have debt tied to their name. The idea that some high schools withhold privileges like attending prom or walking at graduation due to student lunch debt is appalling.
