As an individual who values integrity and speaking up against wrongdoing, the case of the 6th grader in Virginia being suspended for not immediately reporting a classmate bringing a bullet to school is deeply disturbing. The fact that the student who reported the incident was punished for showing courage and doing the right thing is incredibly disheartening. Punishing a child for hesitating for a mere two hours during a test, when faced with a situation as serious as a potential threat, is simply unjust and sends a terrible message to all students.
