Putin Doubles Army Recruitment Bonus as Russian War Losses Mount

As a Russian from Petersburg, I cannot help but feel the weight of the situation as Putin doubles the army recruitment bonus in the face of mounting losses in the war in Ukraine. The desperation is palpable, as the need for more soldiers becomes increasingly urgent. Walking down the streets, I see billboards enticing young men to sign up, offering tempting bonuses and “benefits”. However, the reality of the situation is stark. The war in Ukraine has become a living nightmare, with reports of soldiers not being marked as dead to avoid paying the death bonus.

Zelenskyy says 20,000 Russians were killed in action in Kharkiv Oblast

It is truly heartbreaking to hear that 20,000 individuals lost their lives in action in Kharkiv Oblast. The sheer magnitude of this loss is difficult to comprehend, and it raises many questions about the justification for such a high death toll. As an outsider looking in, it seems hard to fathom how this level of sacrifice can be acceptable or justified by any means. The human cost of war is always staggering, and in this instance, it is no different.
