As I reflect on the recent developments surrounding the Russian Orthodox Church declaring a holy war against Ukraine and the West, I can’t help but feel a deep sense of disappointment and concern. The centuries-old tradition of using religion to justify violent and oppressive actions is one that has plagued humanity for far too long. The fact that a church institution, which should be a beacon of peace and compassion, is now aligning itself with political agendas and advocating for warfare is truly disheartening.
