The news of the Russian army losing over 20,000 soldiers in just the East in April to Ukraine’s forces is nothing short of shocking. The sheer magnitude of these numbers is staggering, and if they are even remotely accurate, they represent a significant loss of life. One can’t help but wonder if these casualties are indeed the highest Europe has seen since World War II. The thought of so many lives being lost in a seemingly senseless conflict is deeply unsettling. It makes one question the value that Putin and the Russian government place on their citizens’ lives.
