The recent announcement of the withdrawal of Ukrainian Armed Forces from the key town of Avdiivka is a devastating blow that was, unfortunately, not entirely unexpected. It is disheartening to see the Ukrainian soldiers, who were outmanned and outgunned, forced to retreat from this strategically important location. The fact that they were in a situation with limited supplies and at high risk of being encircled is truly shameful and highlights the failure of leadership in ensuring the safety and well-being of our troops.
