The security concerns associated with these purchases near critical infrastructure have been a cause for worry for a while now. Reports of shady Russian-owned properties situated next to military airfields, depots, harbors, and important supply lines have been on the rise, raising suspicions about the intentions behind these acquisitions.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signs law squashing squatters’ rights

As I sit back and ponder over the recent news of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signing a law that squashes squatters’ rights, I find myself in a state of conflicting emotions. On one hand, I cannot deny the sheer absurdity of squatters having any rights to someone else’s property. The idea that individuals can just waltz into a vacant home and claim it as their own is preposterous. How did we even get to a point where such a concept exists in our legal system?

I am relieved to see that under this new law, property owners finally have the power to request law enforcement to remove squatters immediately if they unlawfully enter a property and refuse to leave.… Continue reading
