Golden Earring Co-Founder George Kooymans Dies at 77 After ALS Battle

George Kooymans, guitarist and co-founder of the Dutch band Golden Earring, has died at age 77 due to complications from ALS. He co-wrote the iconic hard-rock song “Radar Love” and the top 10 hit “Twilight Zone.” Kooymans was a core member of the band’s most well-known lineup, helping Golden Earring achieve worldwide success and recognition, including a commemorative stamp in 2011. His departure from the band came after being diagnosed with ALS in 2020.
