I have been a lifelong GOP voter, but in 2016, my perspective began to shift. At that time, I was more right-leaning and held the belief that both sides had flaws, but liberals were worse. However, the Trump era changed everything for me. I saw the chaos, divisiveness, and lack of leadership that characterized his presidency, and it became impossible to ignore. The Republican Party, which I had aligned with for so long, began to reveal its true colors – prioritizing the interests of the wealthy and powerful over the well-being of the American people.

I always prided myself on being a Gay Black Republican, believing that my values aligned with the party’s core principles. People are becoming increasingly skeptical of those in positions of power, whether they be politicians, CEOs, or even journalists. The trust that was once bestowed upon these professionals is eroding, leaving many feeling disillusioned and betrayed.

One of the primary reasons for this loss of faith is the blatant disregard for the majority of citizens in favor of catering to the wealthy elite.
