This time it’s the Chair of the Arizona Republican Party, Jeff DeWit, who has found himself in hot water after a leaked audio recording exposed an alleged bribe. According to the Daily Mail, DeWit was captured on tape telling Kari Lake, a Senate race candidate, that “there are very powerful people who want to keep you out” and that “they’re willing to put their money where their mouth is, in a big way.”

As I read the headline, my blood began to boil. Five years in prison. That’s it? I couldn’t help but compare this to other cases where individuals have received much harsher sentences for far less severe crimes.
