Luxembourg Prince Frederik Dies at 22 from Rare Disease

Prince Frederik of Luxembourg, 22, passed away on March 1st in Paris after a long battle with POLG mitochondrial disease, a rare and incurable genetic disorder. Diagnosed at age 14, Frederik’s health steadily declined, ultimately leading to multiple organ failure. The royal family announced his death via Instagram, sharing that Frederik courageously said goodbye to his family on Rare Disease Day.
