Palestinians mark 76 years of dispossession as a potentially even larger catastrophe unfolds in Gaza

As I reflect on the situation in Gaza and the broader Palestinian-Israeli conflict, I can’t help but feel a sense of despair at the ongoing suffering and displacement experienced by the Palestinian people. Seventy-six years of dispossession is a stark reminder of the deep-rooted historical injustices that continue to plague the region. The recent attacks by Hamas only serve to compound the already dire situation, leading to further loss of life and destruction in Gaza.

The recent violent actions carried out by hundreds of Israeli settlers in Palestinian villages in the occupied West Bank have left me appalled and deeply troubled. The pretext of a missing Israeli boy being found dead has sparked a wave of attacks and aggression towards innocent Palestinian civilians. It is clear that the settlers are instigating conflict and bringing harm to those who had nothing to do with the tragic incident that occurred.
