Turkey’s decision to block the instant messaging platform Discord has sparked controversy and frustration among its users, including myself. As someone who relies on Discord for various purposes, such as connecting with friends, participating in online communities, and accessing important educational resources like my coding bootcamp’s server, this sudden ban has left me feeling cut off and inconvenienced.
The reasons behind the ban, as stated by Justice Minister Yilmaz Tunc, claim concerns related to crimes of “child sexual abuse and obscenity” being committed on the platform.
