FedEx Plane Catches Fire After Bird Strike at Newark Airport

A FedEx Boeing 767 cargo plane (Flight 3609) experienced a bird strike during takeoff from Newark, resulting in engine damage and a subsequent engine fire. The three-person crew safely executed an emergency landing back at Newark Liberty International Airport. The FAA and NTSB are investigating the incident, which involved a right engine shutdown and the apparent loss of an engine component.
