Naval Academy Student Shot After Striking Officer with Rifle in Mistaken Identity Incident
On Thursday, a U.S. Naval Academy student was shot by a law enforcement officer during a lockdown initiated due to online threats. The lockdown was triggered by threats made on social media by a former student who had been expelled. The student who was shot, after striking an officer with a training rifle, was transported to a hospital and is expected to recover. The incident occurred amidst a backdrop of other unrelated threats targeting multiple universities, including historically Black colleges.
