Secretary-General Antonio Guterres previously warned of “imminent financial collapse” if member nations, particularly the U.S., do not fulfill their financial obligations. The U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. has indicated a substantial down payment is expected soon, though the final amount remains undecided.
