India confirms citizens have joined Russian military
It’s truly disheartening to hear that some of our fellow Indian citizens have been misled and coerced into joining the Russian military amidst the conflict in Ukraine. The idea that Indians were promised high wages and Russian passports only to find themselves trained to handle weapons and sent to the frontlines is deeply unsettling. The desperation and vulnerability of these individuals who were duped by shady recruiters in Dubai is alarming.
The MEA’s warning against any Indians signing up for the Russian military is a crucial reminder for our people to steer clear of such dangerous and unethical engagements. The fact that some Indians were forced to fight alongside Russians highlights the harsh reality of being recruited as cannon fodder in a war that doesn’t belong to us.… Continue reading
