More than 550 hajj pilgrims tragically lost their lives in Mecca as temperatures soared above 50°C. Hearing about such a significant number of deaths due to the scorching heat is truly heartbreaking. The idea that all but one of them perished because of the heat is simply devastating. Experiencing such extreme temperatures myself, I can only imagine the struggle they must have faced without easy access to clean water in such blazing conditions.

The fact that pilgrims were pouring water over their heads and handed cold drinks and ice-cream to stay cool makes me wonder about the suitability of chocolate ice-cream in 122°F weather.… Continue reading
