This declaration comes amidst a swirling controversy surrounding Platner’s potential influence despite his current standing. Party officials have expressed that Platner’s team has been actively trying to manipulate the process, attempting to “put their thumb on the scale,” but ultimately, his input will not be a factor in determining the new nominee.
