As I reflect on the recent news of a Florida gymnastics coach charged with having sex with two underage students, I can’t help but feel a deep sense of disappointment and frustration. The fact that this situation took place in 2011 and is only surfacing now raises so many questions about how these types of predatory behaviors can go unnoticed or unreported for so long. It’s disheartening to think about the trust that these young girls placed in their coach, only to have that trust violated in such a heinous manner.
