As I sit down to reflect on the recent news of an Illinois judge who reversed a rape conviction and has now been removed from the bench for circumventing the law, my mind is filled with a mix of outrage and disbelief. In October of 2021, Judge Adrian had found an 18-year-old individual guilty of sexual assault at a graduation party, only to later reverse the conviction in January of 2022, stating that the 148 days spent in jail was punishment enough.
