At least 85 people lost their lives when Jeju Air Flight 7C2216, a Boeing 737-800, crashed during landing at Muan International Airport in South Korea on Sunday morning. The official death toll climbed steadily in the hours following the incident, reaching a grim total of 85 confirmed fatalities, a number that unfortunately reflects only those who have been fully identified. The initial reports of a much lower casualty count proved tragically inaccurate as recovery efforts progressed. The plane, carrying 175 passengers and six crew members, had departed from Bangkok earlier that day.
