I must admit, the news of Vice laying off hundreds of staffers and halting the publication of content on their website hits me hard. Vice used to be a beacon of raw, real, and edgy journalism that fearlessly delved into stories and locations that no one else dared to touch. I remember watching their documentaries on North Korea, the 2014 invasion of Ukraine, and the warlords of Liberia, and being astounded by the depth and boldness of their reporting. They brought stories to light that needed to be heard, shedding light on topics that were often swept under the rug.

As I reflect on the recent statement made by the Mexican president defending his decision to disclose a reporter’s phone number, claiming that the law doesn’t apply to him, I can’t help but feel a sense of disappointment and frustration. In a country where journalists are already one of the most targeted groups, this blatant disregard for the law and the safety of those who work tirelessly to bring truth to light is not only concerning but dangerous.

We Are Normalizing Trump. Again.
As a liberal voter in Vermont who voted for Biden and will do so again, I have never once “normalized” Trump. It’s appalled me to see the media continuously give him a platform, even after his presidency ended. The media has been whoring themselves to this idiot since 2015, and they are doing it again.
