Lawmaker Calls Alligator Alcatraz a Concentration Camp After Visit

Following a state-arranged tour of the new 3,000-bed detention center in Florida, Democratic Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz condemned the facility as an “internment camp.” She described the conditions as “appalling,” noting detainees were “packed into cages” with minimal privacy. The facility, hastily constructed on an isolated airstrip, is intended to expand the U.S. migrant detention capacity.
