The news of Hamas killing an IDF combat dog in Gaza and rigging its body as a booby trap to target troops is undeniably horrifying. It sheds light on the brutal realities of guerrilla warfare and the extent to which militant groups will go to inflict harm. As much as it pains me to acknowledge, this tactic is not new. The history of warfare is rife with examples of similar strategies being employed, from the Viet Cong in Vietnam to the mujahideen in Afghanistan.
