As I read about the nursing home owner who sent 800 residents to ride out a hurricane in squalor, my heart broke for the vulnerable individuals who suffered immensely as a result of his negligence. The horrifying conditions they were subjected to, with wet floors, leaking ceilings, overflowing toilets, and a lack of food and water, are utterly unacceptable. It is unfathomable to comprehend how someone could treat elderly and infirm individuals in such a callous and inhumane manner.
