Former President Donald Trump announced he will not be attending this year’s Super Bowl, citing travel concerns despite having attended the previous year’s event. He criticized the NFL’s choice of performers, Green Day and Bad Bunny, both of whom have publicly opposed his agenda, calling their selection a “terrible choice.” Trump did not mention the performers as the sole reason for his absence. Bad Bunny has been critical of Trump’s policies, especially on immigration.

Green Day, a band synonymous with punk rock rebellion, has once again found itself at the center of controversy. This time, it’s over their anti-‘MAGA agenda’ lyric that has triggered conservative rage. But really, are we surprised? Green Day has always been unapologetically political, standing firm in their beliefs and using their platform to speak out against injustice and tyranny.
The irony of conservatives being outraged by Green Day’s lyrics is almost comical. These are the same individuals who proudly proclaimed “Fuck your feelings” for four years under the Trump administration.
