Grant Hardin, former police chief of Gateway, Arkansas, and convicted murderer and rapist, escaped from the North Central Unit prison in Calico Rock, Arkansas, on Sunday at approximately 3:40 p.m. Hardin, serving a 30-year sentence for the murder of James Appleton and a separate 50-year sentence for a 1997 rape, was last seen wearing a prison uniform.
