Most Americans think the government lies. It’s a pervasive feeling, isn’t it? It’s like a dull ache, a constant undercurrent of suspicion that everything coming from Washington, and increasingly from state capitals too, should be taken with a mountain of salt. The comments certainly reflect this, speaking of outright falsehoods and mistruths. Some suggest it’s not just the current administration; this distrust has been building for years, fueled by a sense that those in power are not acting in the best interests of the people.
