Growing up in a county that prioritized education, I had the privilege of taking community college classes for free while in high school and even a few years after graduation. This initiative not only enriched my educational experience but also highlighted the power of investing in our community. So, when I heard that Gov. Whitmer signed a $23.4 billion education budget that includes free pre-K for many families and free community college education, I couldn’t help but feel a surge of pride and gratitude.
