Mississippi Football Events: Multiple Dead, Injured in Shootings, Calls for National Guard
Multiple shootings linked to football events across Mississippi resulted in numerous injuries and fatalities. A mass shooting in Leland, following a homecoming game, left six dead and 16 injured; authorities have not yet announced any arrests or suspects. Additionally, a shooting at South Delta High School led to two arrests, while another incident at Heidelberg High School claimed two lives, including an expectant mother, and injured at least one other person; an 18-year-old person of interest has been taken into custody in connection to this shooting. Governor Tate Reeves has stated those responsible will be brought to justice.
