Everest Permit Price Hike Sparks Debate Over Access, Cleanliness, and Exploitation

Nepal is raising Everest climbing permit fees by 36%, increasing the cost to $15,000 for the popular spring climbing season. This marks the first fee increase in almost a decade and aims to boost revenue for the country, a significant source of income and employment. The new rates, effective September, also affect the autumn and winter climbing seasons.
