In the first quarter of 2026, a significant 83% of Ireland’s alumina exports, totaling 200,619 tons, were directed to Russia. This supply chain undermines Irish Prime Minister Micheal Martin’s arguments against sanctioning the plant, Ireland’s sole alumina producer, in the EU’s upcoming sanctions package against Russia.
