Supreme Court Unanimously Upholds California’s New Election Map Against GOP Challenge

This decision came after rejecting emergency appeals from California Republicans and former President Trump’s lawyers, who alleged the map was an illegal racial gerrymander. California’s defense argued that the map did not increase Latino-majority districts and that partisan advantage, not racial motivation, was the driving force, a position supported by the lower court’s findings. The Supreme Court’s refusal to hear the appeal allows California’s redistricting, approved by voters, to stand.
