As I sit here reflecting on the state of our country and the upcoming election, one thing becomes abundantly clear to me: stopping Trump and Project 2025 is paramount. The outcome of the Biden-Harris election seems insignificant when compared to the looming threat of an alt-right fascist Christian takeover of America that Project 2025 represents.
It is disheartening to witness the current political landscape where fear of the other party seems to be the driving force behind our votes. The idea that we are forced to vote for one party just to prevent the other from gaining power is a chilling indication of the state of our democracy.… Continue reading
The recent train-wreck of a rally that Donald Trump held in Florida at Doral showcased just how far gone the former President truly is. Among the barrage of nonsensical statements that he spewed, there were three that stood out as the wildest of them all. Trump’s bizarre rant about asylum-seekers and his comparison to the fictional character Hannibal Lecter was not only alarming but also highlighted his lack of coherent thought. His ramblings about Hannibal Lecter being a “lovely man” who would love to have you for dinner, claiming he had many people for dinner, is not only disturbing but also indicative of his deteriorating mental state.… Continue reading
As I read the news about Joe Biden leading Donald Trump by 25 points among younger voters, I can’t help but feel a sense of hope for the future. It’s encouraging to see that the younger generation is actively engaged in political participation and showing interest in shaping the direction of our country. However, the reality is that young people have historically had low voter turnout rates, which ultimately diminishes the impact of their collective voice in elections.
While it’s promising to see Biden ahead in the polls with younger voters, we must remember that numbers alone are not enough. The key is getting these individuals to actually show up on Election Day and cast their votes.… Continue reading
The Supreme Court is a pivotal institution in American democracy, one that has far-reaching implications for the lives of every citizen. With the recent pledge by President Joe Biden to appoint progressives to the Supreme Court, it is clear that the stakes are high. Biden’s explicit warning about potential vacancies on the high court due to the aging conservative justices underscores the crucial importance of the upcoming election.
The fact that some of the current justices, such as Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito, are approaching or have entered their seventies highlights the potential for significant changes to the composition of the Supreme Court in the near future.… Continue reading
More than 60% of Americans say that abortion should be legal, according to a recent poll. This number seems shockingly low to me, as I would expect the percentage to be much higher given the general consensus on this issue. It is disheartening to see that our voices, as the majority, may not always translate into policy changes or election outcomes. The fact that Republicans, who aim to outlaw all abortions without exception, continue to receive votes is truly baffling. It is crucial for us to vote out politicians who do not align with our values, especially when it comes to such critical issues like reproductive rights.… Continue reading
Donald Trump’s recent rally speech has once again raised questions about his mental acuity and coherence, or lack thereof. It seems that every time he takes the stage, we are presented with a jumbled mess of words, phrases, and ideas that fail to coherently come together to form a rational thought. The speech in question, where he attempted to discuss the Battle of Gettysburg, was a prime example of his disjointed rambling.
Listening to Trump speak is akin to hearing a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing. His language regression, mixing up of people and names, and use of superlatives like “very very beautiful” all point to a concerning decline in his cognitive abilities.… Continue reading
We have to beat Donald Trump. Clearly, the broken legal system won’t. It’s evident that the legal system has been failing to hold Trump accountable for his actions. The fact that he has been able to evade consequences time and time again is a clear indication of this brokenness. While any normal citizen would have faced jail time by now for similar offenses, Trump continues to escape the grasp of justice. The legal system has been treating him with kid gloves, and it’s up to us, the voters, to ensure that he doesn’t regain power.
The prospect of Trump avoiding prosecution and potential jail time by winning the White House again and pardoning himself is a terrifying thought.… Continue reading
It’s absolutely mind-boggling to think that someone who has a history of disclosing classified information, is currently under suspicion of stealing and concealing classified information, and has deep ties to various dictatorships and terrorist regimes could soon have access to classified national security intelligence briefings again. The level of irresponsibility and disregard for national security is beyond comprehension.
In a normal world, this scenario wouldn’t even be a possibility. No responsible party would consider nominating an individual with such a shady background for the presidency. It is alarming that our system allows for someone like this to even be in the running for such a crucial position.… Continue reading
As a Black person, it is simply mind-boggling to hear the absurd and racist comments made by a Fox News star regarding why Black people would supposedly vote for Trump. I mean, saying that Black people love sneakers so much that they would vote for a candidate based on a sneaker line is not only disrespectful but also incredibly ignorant. It feels like these kinds of comments are not only dismissive of the complexity of the Black community but also perpetuate harmful stereotypes.
The idea that Black people would relate to Trump because he has “street cred” from being arrested is equally appalling.… Continue reading
As I sat glued to the live oral arguments of the Supreme Court, I couldn’t help but feel a wave of nausea wash over me. The way these politicians manipulated the law, twisting and contorting it to suit their own agendas, was truly sickening. Whatever happened to the ideal of leaving things up to the states? Colorado Republicans made a decision that they simply didn’t want Trump on the ballot, and now they are trying to justify their actions under the guise of upholding states’ rights.
It’s ironic how these same politicians who claim to defend the right of states to choose how to handle issues like abortion are suddenly switching sides the moment a state chooses something they disagree with.… Continue reading
