Colombia Authorizes Euthanasia for Pablo Escobar’s Invasive Hippos

The news that Colombia has authorized the use of euthanasia for Pablo Escobar’s hippos certainly grabs attention, and for good reason. It’s a situation born from the most unlikely of origins: the luxurious and illicit lifestyle of one of the world’s most notorious drug lords. Back in the 1980s, Pablo Escobar kept a private zoo at his Hacienda Napoles, and among the exotic animals he acquired were four hippos – one male and three females.
