The recent claim by a GOP group that Kamala Harris is ineligible to be president due to the Dred Scott decision is not only absurd but also deeply rooted in racism and ignorance. The Dred Scott decision, which declared that black people were not humans, was overturned by the 13th and 14th amendments to the Constitution, which abolished slavery and granted citizenship to all persons born in the United States.
