Authorities were searching for Jamel McGriff, a paroled sex offender, after he allegedly murdered a Queens couple and set their home ablaze. McGriff gained entry to the Oltons’ home by feigning a need for assistance and was subsequently caught on camera leaving with bags. The victims, Frank and Maureen Olton, were found dead, with Frank tied up and stabbed and Maureen burned on the first floor. After an extensive manhunt, McGriff was apprehended in Midtown Manhattan by the NYPD. McGriff has a history of criminal behavior and was considered armed and dangerous.

A 25-year-old woman and her 11-month-old daughter were pepper-sprayed on an M train near Court Square station in Queens after the woman refused a stranger’s request to use her phone. The attack occurred on the train after the pair boarded together. Both victims were hospitalized but are expected to recover. Police are investigating and urge anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers.

The arrest of a far-right activist for child molestation is a stark and unsettling reminder of the hypocrisy often found within those who loudly condemn such behavior in others. This individual, a prominent voice railing against drag queens and accusing them of “grooming” children, was himself apprehended on charges of child sex abuse.
