Florida’s CFO, Jimmy Patronis, has proposed that the state pay former President Donald Trump’s legal fees. As a Floridian, I find this decision deeply concerning and disappointing. It highlights the special brand of socialism that Republicans seem to embrace when it benefits their chosen few.
What makes this proposal even more alarming is the fact that Florida is already facing numerous challenges when it comes to serving its citizens. We have hungry kids who are not being adequately fed, yet millions of dollars are being allocated to fund the legal defense of a billionaire who surely has the means to cover his own fees.… Continue reading
Donald Trump Is Galactically Angry at Nikki Haley for the Funniest Reason – The former president is suddenly very much opposed to anyone who fails to accept an election loss
It’s absolutely hilarious how Donald Trump is seething with anger towards Nikki Haley for her supposed failure to accept an election loss. The irony in Trump’s outrage is so thick, you could cut it with a knife. After all, this is the same man who has been indicted twice for his refusal to accept defeat in the 2020 presidential election. It’s rich for him to preach about accepting losses when he himself is the epitome of a sore loser.… Continue reading
As news broke that E. Jean Carroll, the woman who accused Donald Trump of sexual assault, had won an $83.3 million defamation lawsuit against him, my mind couldn’t help but ponder what she planned to do with such a significant sum of money. It’s her money, and she deserves every penny, but the possibilities for doing something good with it are endless.
One suggestion that immediately came to mind was to fund private lab testing for rape kits to ensure that physical evidence of sexual assault is handled professionally and quickly. It is disheartening to know that rape kit backlogs still persist in many states, despite the availability of funding.… Continue reading
Busted: Trump repeatedly called for jailing presidents before saying he had immunity
It’s no surprise that Trump is once again caught in the act of hypocrisy. Throughout his presidency, he tirelessly advocated for the imprisonment of other presidents, conveniently disregarding the principles of fairness and justice. It’s the classic case of “rules for thee, not for me.” But what is truly concerning is the underlying authoritarian impulse that these actions reveal.
Trump’s blatant disregard for the law and his insidious desire to have laws that punish others while ensuring his own freedom reflect a dangerous ambition for unchecked power. His legal argument that President Biden could have him, his family, the Supreme Court, and the Senate executed by the military without any intervention from the court unless Congress impeaches him is deeply disturbing.… Continue reading
Judge warns Trump jurors in E Jean Carroll trial to never reveal themselves
It’s truly alarming when a judge has to issue a warning to jurors in a trial involving a former president, as if they were jurors in a mob trial. This is not a normal circumstance, and it should not be treated as such. The fact that jurors in the E Jean Carroll trial have been advised to never disclose their identities speaks volumes about the current state of our democracy.
Let’s put this into perspective. The judge’s warning is not something you would expect in an ordinary trial.… Continue reading
E. Jean Carroll jury decides Trump must pay $83.3 million. When I read the news, I couldn’t help but feel a mix of satisfaction and vindication. Finally, justice has been served to a man who has continuously defamed and denied the rape accusations made against him by E. Jean Carroll. The jury ruled unanimously, sending a resounding message that actions have consequences, no matter how powerful or influential one may be.
The breakdown of the damages awarded was equally significant. $7.3 million for emotional damage, $11 million in compensatory damages, and a staggering $65 million in punitive damages. These numbers reflect not only the severity of the harm caused but also the message that the court wishes to send–that such behavior will not be tolerated.… Continue reading
Donald Trump storms out of closing arguments in E Jean Carroll trial. It’s not surprising at all. In fact, I find it quite satisfying. Trump’s consistent, childish behavior only reinforces the prosecution’s argument that he thinks he is above the law. His decision to walk out of the courtroom just further confirms his petulant nature.
Throughout these court proceedings, Trump has continued to defame Carroll, and she has rightfully dragged him back to court to demand justice. It’s like a never-ending loop of Trump losing in court and Carroll coming back for more millions. I wouldn’t be surprised if this cycle repeats itself once again.… Continue reading
Obama and Clinton joining Biden for an all-hands-on-deck effort to defeat Trump. The mere mention of these names in the same sentence evokes strong reactions from people on all sides of the political spectrum. From the comments I’ve read, it’s clear that opinions are divided on whether their involvement in the campaign is a positive or negative move.
Some argue that bringing in Obama and Clinton is a strategic move to rally support and fundraising for Joe Biden. After all, Obama is a highly popular figure among Democrats, and Clinton has experience as both a former First Lady and Secretary of State.… Continue reading
Trump’s Big Mouth Just Cost Him Big-Time in E. Jean Carroll Case | A Trump deposition video from one case is about to screw him over in another.
It’s no secret that former President Donald Trump has a habit of speaking before thinking, often leading to controversies and legal troubles. And now, it seems that his big mouth has gotten him into hot water once again, this time in relation to the ongoing E. Jean Carroll case.
For those unfamiliar with the case, E. Jean Carroll, a renowned writer and media personality, accused Trump of sexually assaulting her in a Bergdorf Goodman dressing room in the mid-1990s.… Continue reading
As I read the headline “Florida man facing 91 criminal counts wins New Hampshire primary,” I couldn’t help but feel a mix of shock, disappointment, and frustration. It seems that, despite all the evidence, the Republican party is still embracing a candidate who has a laundry list of criminal charges against him. This is not the America I thought I knew.
For eight long years, Republicans had the opportunity to distance themselves from this individual. Yet, they did nothing. They allowed him to rise through the ranks, even as he faced allegations of crimes against America, including conspiring to disenfranchise the population and stealing national secrets.… Continue reading
